The Beal Birdie auto-locking belay device allows for even smoother belaying of the leader than other such devices. The all-metal construction and aluminum handle that assists in lowering and braking the rope during the descent gives confidence during belaying. The belay device will work well for both rock climbing and dynamic belaying on climbing walls. It can be operated by less experienced people, but will also be great in the hands of advanced climbers.
